KVM-B10C61F - Exterior rear antenna. General Electrical Failures. Circuit intermittent
System
Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is recorded as intermittent, meaning it comes and goes and may not be present right now. The keyless vehicle module (KVM) has detected an electrical fault in the outer rear antenna or in the wiring to it. The check is made with the engine running and the car moving fast enough, and the keyless functions then become weaker or stop.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short to ground in the signal wire
- Short to supply voltage in the signal wire
- The antenna is broken
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and run the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Find where the antenna is fitted: in the tailgate on the XC60, V70 and XC70, and in the rear bumper on other models. Inspect the wire and connector for damage and chafing
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire has no open circuit and is not connected to ground or supply voltage
- 4Make sure the connectors are firmly seated and free from corrosion. Note when the fault shows up, as it comes and goes
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the antenna and replace it if it is broken
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless functions do not work at all or work poorly
