Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is recorded as intermittent, so it may not be present right now. The keyless vehicle module (KVM) has detected an electrical fault in the antenna in the left rear door handle or in the wiring to it. It is checked with the engine running and the car moving fast enough, and the keyless functions can then become weaker or stop.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short to ground in the signal wire
- Short to supply voltage in the signal wire
- The antenna is broken
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and run the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Disconnect the battery negative lead and inspect the wire to the antenna in the left rear door handle for damage and chafing
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire has no open circuit and is not connected to ground or supply voltage
- 4Make sure the connector is firmly seated and free from corrosion, and note the times when the fault appears
- 5Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the antenna and replace it if it is broken
Symptoms you may notice1
- Keyless functions do not work at all or work poorly
