What does this fault code mean?
The switch for the left front lock cylinder has been activated for too long, meaning its signal has stayed high. The code is stored when the time becomes too long, and it points to the switch, the handle or the wiring. The driver does not normally notice the code.
Possible causes
- Damaged switch
- The left front handle has been held pulled out for an unusually long time
- The signal wire has a short to ground
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the handle returns to its rest position and is not damaged or held by dirt or ice
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire to the switch is not connected to ground (the body)
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the switch value in live data while you use the lock cylinder, and check it changes
- 5Have a workshop replace the switch if it is damaged and the wire is sound
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
