KVM-B136531
VOLVO
KVM-B136531 - Front Left Door Handle Lock Circuit. FM (Frequency Modulated) / PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) Failures. No signal
System
Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
Each outer door handle carries a lock sensor and an unlock sensor, both read by the keyless vehicle module (KVM). The code is stored when the lock signal from the left front handle is missing or wrong. Locking, unlocking and central locking from that handle then do not work, and the fault appears while the engine is running and the car is moving.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then run the engine to check whether it returns
- 2Check the fuse for the circuit
- 3With the ignition off, check with a multimeter that the common handle-sensor ground wire is not shorted to supply voltage or ground
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires between the left front handle and the KVM have no open circuit and are not shorted to supply voltage or ground
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: check the lock sensor in live data and see that the value changes when the lock button is pressed and released
- 6Have a workshop replace the door handle if the wiring is sound, and replace the KVM if the fault remains after that
Symptoms you may notice1
- Locking, unlocking and central locking do not work
