Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The keyless vehicle module (KVM) watches the shared ground wire for the lock and unlock sensors in the outer door handles. The code is stored when that wire reads constantly low, which means it is not getting a proper ground. Locking, unlocking and central locking then do not work, and the fault can appear while the engine runs and the car is driven.
Possible causes
- The wire is shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the wire
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then run the engine to see whether it comes back
- 2Check the fuse for the circuit
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check the shared ground wire for an open circuit or a short to ground
- 4With a diagnostic tool, read the shared ground wire status in live data while locking and unlocking with the remote
- 5Have a workshop check the wire and replace the KVM if the fault remains once the wire is sound
Symptoms you may notice1
- Locking, unlocking and central locking do not work
