KVM-B137331
VOLVO
KVM-B137331 - Front Right Door Handle Unlock Circuit. FM (Frequency Modulated) / PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) Failures. No signal
System
Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
Each outer door handle has a lock sensor and an unlock sensor, and the keyless vehicle module (KVM) reads them. The code is stored when the unlock signal from the right front handle is missing or wrong. Unlocking from that handle may then fail, and the fault can appear while the engine runs and the car is in motion.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then run the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Check the fuse for the circuit
- 3With the ignition off, check with a multimeter that the common handle-sensor ground wire is not shorted to supply voltage or ground
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires between the right front handle and the KVM have no open circuit and no short to supply voltage or ground
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool: check the unlock sensor in live data and see that the value changes when you pull and release the handle
- 6Have a workshop replace the handle if the wiring is sound, and the KVM if the fault stays. If the fault remains after the replacement, the KVM may need replacing
Symptoms you may notice1
- Locking, unlocking and central locking do not work
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
