What does this fault code mean?
The control module checks communication with the external receiver, which picks up the signal from the remote key and passes it on. The code is set when an electrical fault has occurred in the receiver or in the signal cable to it. The code does not say which type of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Communication cable short-circuited to ground
- Communication cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Communication fault
What you can do
- 1Look for damage, chafing and loose connectors on the signal wire running from the KVM to the receiver
- 2If a short circuit or break is suspected in the signal cable, have a workshop measure the cable between the KVM and the receiver
- 3If the cable and connectors are intact but voltage is present at the receiver (RRX), it is most likely an internal fault in the receiver; have a workshop confirm this
- 4If the receiver may be intended for another car, have a workshop check that it suits this particular car and replace it if needed
- 5Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice2
- The remote control cannot be used
- No, or reduced, keyless function
