What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates that communication with the external receiver (RKE) is disturbed or absent, so the message from the remote key is missing. The keyless vehicle module (KVM) monitors the communication and sets the code when it detects the disturbance.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) receiver
- Internal fault in the keyless vehicle module (KVM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test the car; check whether it returns and whether the remote control works
- 2Look for damage, chafing and loose connectors on the signal cable between the KVM and the receiver
- 3If the cable and connectors are intact but the fault remains, have a workshop check the receiver and the keyless vehicle module (KVM) for an internal fault
- 4If the receiver may be intended for another car, have a workshop check its frequency against the car's configuration and replace it if needed
- 5If new software is needed in the central electronic module (CEM), have a workshop download it
Symptoms you may notice2
- The remote control cannot be used
- No, or reduced, keyless function
