What does this fault code mean?
The keyless vehicle module (KVM) reads the car's settings from the CEM during the first ignition cycle. If that data does not arrive, the code is set and the module is not configured for the car. The fault may lie in the CAN wiring or in either of the two modules.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short circuit in the CAN wiring
- Internal fault in the keyless vehicle module (KVM)
- Internal fault in the CEM module
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the keyless system are intact
- 2Look at the battery and make sure its terminals are clean and tight
- 3Road test the car and try the functions the keyless system controls, such as locking and unlocking with the remote, to see what still works
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment, read the codes in the central electronic module (CEM), since they can show communication faults on the CAN network
- 5Have a workshop check the CAN wiring and, if needed, test or replace the control modules that are suspected
Symptoms you may notice1
- No, or reduced, keyless function
