Applies to the following models:

What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates that the control module has registered the battery voltage as too high. The cause may lie in the charging system, which produces too high a voltage, or in the battery.
Possible causes
- Defective charging system
- Defective battery
What you can do
- 1If a battery charger or starting unit has been connected to the battery, check that the correct voltage was set; charging at too high a voltage can set the code
- 2Start the engine and read the battery voltage with diagnostic equipment; if it looks normal, the fault has probably not been active recently
- 3Have a workshop look at the charging system to see whether it delivers the wrong voltage
- 4An earlier too-high voltage may come from a charger set wrong or a temporary regulator fault; have a workshop check the regulator
- 5Erase the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not run on gas
