Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The battery charger's internal temperature is measured by two sensors built into it. When the temperature is too high, charging from an external cable becomes weaker or is blocked altogether. The code is set when the control module detects raised temperature.
Possible causes
- The charger has overheated
- Fault in the cooling system for the high voltage system
- Too little refrigerant in the cooling system
- Ambient temperature too high
What you can do
- 1Check the coolant level in the cooling system for the high voltage system while the system is cold
- 2Look for coolant leaks on the cooling system for the high voltage system
- 3Let the car and the charger cool down before trying to charge again
- 4Have a workshop trace any leak and check the refrigerant charge
- 5Do not work on the high-voltage cooling circuits yourself; that is a job for a workshop
Symptoms you may notice2
- Charging from an external cable does not work or works poorly
- The lamp in the charging socket signals a fault or reduced charging
What the fault can affect1
- Charging from outside is blocked for the high voltage battery
