What does this fault code mean?
The charging module in the car (OBC) has detected that the current from an external charging cable is too high. The charge current is picked on the control box fitted to the charging cable, and the cable sends a signal that depends on that choice. Charging the high voltage battery is not possible while the fault remains.
Possible causes
- Incorrect connection to the power source
- The charging cable is damaged
- The charging socket in the car is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read out and erase the fault code, then charge again and see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the charging cable is not damaged, for example chafing, kinks or burnt connectors
- 3Check that the correct type of charging cable is used for the car
- 4Have a workshop check that the charging socket in the car is clean and undamaged and that the cable is fully seated in it
- 5Check that the mains socket works and that the charging cable is correctly connected to the power source
- 6The high voltage system may only be handled by authorised personnel. Do not work on it yourself; have a workshop check the charging if the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice3
- Charging the high voltage battery from an external charging cable does not happen, is reduced or does not work correctly
- The LED on the charging cable or the charging socket shows a fault
- It may be unclear when the fault appears; it may be present at all times
What the fault can affect1
- Charging the high voltage battery is not possible
