What does this fault code mean?
The on-board charger module (OBC) in the plug-in hybrid monitors the temperature sensor in the car's charging inlet and has received too high a signal from it. The sensor is there to stop the inlet overheating while charging, so when the signal cannot be trusted, charging is stopped.
Possible causes
- Damaged temperature sensor in the charging inlet
- Damaged connector or wiring between the charging inlet and the charger module
- Fault in the charger module
What you can do
- 1Check the charging inlet for visible damage, dirt and moisture
- 2Try another charging cable and another charging point to rule them out
- 3Never work on the high-voltage system yourself – it must only be handled by qualified personnel
- 4Have a workshop check the inlet sensor and the wiring to the charger
Symptoms you may notice2
- The car does not charge, or charges poorly, with the charging cable
- The light at the charging inlet indicates a fault
What the fault can affect1
- The high-voltage battery cannot be charged with the charging cable
