What does this fault code mean?
The battery charger control module (OBC) monitors the communication on the CAN network with the other control modules. The fault is set when OBC switches itself off, known as bus-off. Until the power supply is cut, the module remains switched off, so charging the high voltage battery is not possible.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- A break in one or both CAN wires on a section of the network
What you can do
- 1Read out and erase the fault code, charge again and see whether it comes back
- 2Have a workshop check that the connectors in the car's network are firmly seated and not corroded
- 3Have a workshop measure the CAN cables for open circuits and high resistance and check the traffic on the network
- 4The high voltage system may only be handled by authorised personnel. Do not work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice3
- Charging the high voltage battery from an external charging cable does not happen, is reduced or does not work correctly
- The LED on the charging cable or the charging socket shows a fault and charging is reduced
- A text message and a warning symbol are shown in the display
What the fault can affect2
- Charging the high voltage battery is not possible
- The module stays switched off until its power is cut, and it tries to communicate again after the next power-up
