Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
1 modelV60 (2011–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The battery charger control module (OBC) normally receives information from the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network. The fault is set when that signal has been missing for a while. The fault can be caused by a defective signal line, or by an open circuit or a short circuit to ground or voltage on it. Charging the high voltage battery is not possible while the fault remains.
Possible causes
- The signal line is defective
- Open circuit or short circuit to ground or voltage on the signal line
What you can do
- 1Read out and erase the fault code, charge again and see whether it comes back
- 2Has a control module in the car been replaced recently? Tell the workshop, since it then needs the right software
- 3Have a workshop check the signal wires in the CAN network and download new software to the control module if needed
- 4The high voltage system may only be handled by authorised personnel. Do not work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice3
- Charging the high voltage battery from an external charging cable does not happen, is reduced or does not work correctly
- The LED on the charging cable or the charging socket shows a fault and charging is reduced
- A text message and a warning symbol are shown in the display
What the fault can affect1
- Charging the high voltage battery is not possible
