What does this fault code mean?
The battery charger control module (OBC) checks that the cable can be latched to the car by the lock motor inside the charging socket. The fault is set after OBC has repeatedly tried, one attempt after another, to latch the charging cable. The fault can come from an object blocking the charging socket or from a defective charging socket, and then charging the high voltage battery is not possible.
Possible causes
- An object is blocking the charging socket
- The charging socket is defective
What you can do
- 1Look carefully into the charging socket for objects blocking it, and remove them if you can clearly see them
- 2Check that the charging socket is not damaged and that the charging cable can be locked into it
- 3Charge again once the charging socket is clean and undamaged, and see whether the fault comes back
- 4Have a workshop check the charging socket and the lock motor. The high voltage system may only be handled by authorised personnel, so do not work on it yourself
Symptoms you may notice2
- Charging the high voltage battery from an external charging cable does not happen, is reduced or does not work correctly
- The LED on the charging cable or the charging socket shows a fault and charging is reduced
What the fault can affect1
- Charging the high voltage battery is not possible
