What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance camera module (PAC) talks to other control modules in the car over the CAN network. The fault is set when another control module on the network disturbs the communication, or when PAC's own messages disturb it. PAC can then switch itself off, known as bus-off, and the camera does not work.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the CAN wires
- Open circuit in one of the CAN wires
- Internal fault in another control module on the same part of the CAN network
- Damaged parking assistance camera module (PAC)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors on the CAN wires are firmly seated
- 2Read out and erase the fault code in the parking camera, test drive the car and see whether it comes back
- 3Have a workshop measure the CAN wires for open circuits and short circuits, and find the control module that disturbs the network. A control module that communicates incorrectly is replaced
- 4The central electronic module (CEM) is not switched off unnecessarily during the fault-finding, and it is not replaced for a CAN fault unless the workshop finds an internal fault in it
