Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
8 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance camera module (PAC) normally receives continuous information from the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN network. The fault is set when communication with the ECM is disturbed or missing. The fault can come from a missing or broken voltage supply or ground to the ECM, contact resistance, broken or short-circuited CAN wires, or an ECM that does not suit the car. The parking camera does not work while the fault remains.
Possible causes
- No power reaches the engine control module (ECM)
- Open circuit in the ground wire to the engine control module (ECM)
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open circuit or short circuit in the CAN wires
- The engine control module (ECM) does not match this car, such as a second-hand unit with other software or hardware
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the earth points are firmly fixed and not oxidised
- 2Erase the fault code and test drive the car. If it comes back, the fault needs following up by a workshop
- 3Has the engine control module (ECM) been replaced recently? Tell the workshop, since it then needs the right software
- 4Have a workshop check the power supply, the earth and the CAN wires to the engine control module, and download new software if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- The parking camera does not work
