What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance camera module (PAC) gets its data from the central electronic module (CEM) over CAN all the time. The fault is set when communication with the CEM is missing. The cause may lie in the transmitting control module, in loose connections or oxidation in the CAN connections, in open or short circuits on the CAN wires, in the parking camera or in the CEM. Park assist does not work while the fault remains.
Possible causes
- The cause may lie in the transmitting control module
- Loose connection or oxidation in the CAN connections
- Open circuit or short circuit on the CAN wires
- Damaged parking assistance camera module (PAC)
- The cause may lie in the central electronic module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors in the CAN connections are firmly seated and not oxidised
- 2Start by having a workshop read the codes kept by the CEM and by the other modules involved, then trace the fault from them
- 3Erase the fault code and test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 4Have a workshop check the CAN wires, and replace the parking assistance camera module (PAC) only if no fault is found on the wires
Symptoms you may notice2
