What does this fault code mean?

The parking assistance camera module (PAC) constantly checks its own supply voltage against the figure that the central electronic module (CEM) reports on CAN. The fault only needs following up if it has been active for a long time during the current drive and you notice that park assist does not work. In other cases it does not indicate a fault and can be erased. The fault can come from poor contact, wiring faults, an incorrect supply, a configuration ID that does not suit the car, or a damaged PAC.

    Possible causes

    • Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connections
    • A configuration ID that does not suit the car, for example a used control module with different software or hardware
    • Open circuit or short circuit in the wires
    • Faulty voltage supply
    • Damaged parking assistance camera module (PAC)

    What you can do

    1. 1Erase the fault code first. If it comes back for a long time during driving and park assist does not work, the fault needs following up
    2. 2Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors in the parking camera system are firmly seated and not oxidised
    3. 3Has the parking camera been swapped for a used one? Tell the workshop, since it then needs the right configuration
    4. 4Have a workshop check the voltage supply and the wires, and replace the parking assistance camera module (PAC) if it is damaged

    Symptoms you may notice2

    • Front and rear park assist does not work
    • The parking camera does not work

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
