Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) monitors the signal coming from parking sensor 4, which sits in the outer right rear part of the bumper. If the voltage on the signal wire is too high, the code is set and parking assistance from that sensor does not work.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to supply voltage in the signal wire or in the connectors between the module and the sensor
- Short circuit to supply voltage in the sensor itself
- Open circuit in the ground wire or in the connectors between the module and the sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the sensor connector and the wiring behind the bumper for damage and moisture
- 2Check that the sensor is secure in the bumper and not damaged
- 3Check the signal wire for a short to supply voltage and the ground wire for an open circuit with diagnostic equipment
- 4Replace the parking sensor if the wiring is intact but the fault remains
