PAM-0010
VOLVO
PAM-0010 - Parking sensor 5. Signal too high
System
Parking Assistance Module (PAM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) has registered that the voltage in the signal wire from parking sensor 5 is too high. The fault concerns the signal from that sensor and is stored when the high voltage is present in the wire, in the connectors or in the sensor itself.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal wire, or in the connectors linking the PAM to parking sensor 5
- The parking sensor 5 itself is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the ground wire or the connectors between the PAM and parking sensor 5
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Switch off the ignition and disconnect the connector to parking sensor 5, the outer sensor on the left front side
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire between the PAM and the sensor connector is not in contact with the supply voltage
- 4Check that the ground wire to parking sensor 5 has no break and that the connectors are free from oxidation
- 5If no fault is found in the wiring, replace the parking sensor and read the code again
