Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) has registered that the voltage in the signal wire from parking sensor 5 is too low, or that the signal is missing altogether. The fault may be caused by a short to ground or by a break in the signal or supply wire, or in the connectors.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal wire or the connectors between the PAM and parking sensor 5
- Open circuit in the signal wire or the connectors between the PAM and parking sensor 5
- Open circuit in the supply wire or the connectors between the PAM and parking sensor 5
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Switch off the ignition and disconnect the connector to parking sensor 5, the outer sensor on the left front side
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground and no break
- 4Check the supply wire to the sensor in the same way, for contact with ground and for a break
- 5Check that the connectors are intact, firmly seated and free from oxidation; replace the parking sensor only if the wiring is intact
