Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) monitors the signal from parking sensor 6 and has registered that the voltage in the signal wire is too low, or that the signal is missing. The fault concerns the wiring between the control module and the sensor, where a short to ground or a break in the signal or supply wire may be the cause.
Possible causes
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal wire or the connectors between the PAM and parking sensor 6
- Open circuit in the signal wire or the connectors between the PAM and parking sensor 6
- Open circuit in the supply wire or the connectors between the PAM and parking sensor 6
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Switch off the ignition and disconnect the connector to parking sensor 6, the inner sensor on the left front side
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground and no break
- 4Check the supply wire to the sensor in the same way, both for ground contact and for a break
- 5Check that the connectors are firmly seated and free from oxidation; replace the parking sensor first only if the wiring is intact
