VOLVO
PAM-B129C12 - Left Front Side Sensor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery
System
Parking Assistance Module (PAM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) checks the DC voltage in the signal wire to the sensor on the left front side. The code is stored when the voltage is too high, which means the signal wire has contact with supply voltage.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Short-circuit in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then switch the ignition on again to see whether it comes back
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, look at the signal status for the left front side sensor in the fault data, with and without the sensor connector attached
- 3With the ignition switched off, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire between the parking assistance module and the sensor connector has no contact with supply voltage
- 4Check that the connectors in the wiring between the sensor and the parking assistance module are intact and that no chafing lets the signal wire touch the supply wire
- 5If the wiring is intact, have a workshop trace the fault further
Symptoms you may notice3
- Front or rear parking assistance does not work
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
