PAM-B1B3601 - Front Right Outer Sensor. General Failure Information. General electrical failure
System
Parking Assistance Module (PAM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
6 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V60 (2011–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) checks the DC voltage in the signal wire to the outer right front sensor. The code is stored when the voltage has an incorrect value for a longer period. It is a general electrical fault code, and the cause can range from a loose sensor to a short-circuit in the wiring or connectors.
Possible causes
- Parking sensor poor contact
- Short-circuit to ground in the wire
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Short-circuit in the connections
- Open circuit in the voltage supply wire
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 2If B1B5711 or B1B5811 is also stored, start the fault tracing there: they point to a short to ground in the sensor supply wire
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault data for the outer right front sensor and see whether it shows a fault on the signal
- 4Check that the connectors at the sensor and along the wire to the parking assistance module are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the sensor has no contact with ground and no break
- 6If the wiring is intact, have a workshop trace the fault further
