PAM-B1B5711 - Front Sensors Power Circuit. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Parking Assistance Module (PAM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) checks the supply voltage to the front parking sensors. The code is stored when the DC voltage is too low, which means the supply wire is short-circuited to ground. If it is stored together with codes for individual parking sensors, fault tracing should start from it.
Possible causes
- The power supply wire is short-circuited to ground
- Short-circuit in the connections
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the parking assistance are intact; the fuse list in the car shows which one applies
- 2Read and clear the code, then test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault data for the supply to the front sensors and see whether voltage is present when the ignition is on
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the front sensors has no contact with ground
- 5Check the connectors in the supply circuit and that no chafing gives contact with ground
- 6If the wiring is intact, have a workshop trace the fault further
Symptoms you may notice4
- The parking assistance does not work
- The information lamp is lit
- Message in the text display
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
