What does this fault code mean?

The parking assistance module checks its own configuration ID against the value the central electronic module (CEM) broadcasts on the CAN network. The code is stored when the IDs do not match, or when communication between the parking assistance module and the CEM is interrupted. If the code is stored only in the parking assistance module, a used control module may have been fitted without the correct software being loaded.

    Possible causes

    • Incorrect CAN configuration ID, since the unit was never meant for this car, for instance a second-hand unit with other software or hardware
    • Open circuit in the CAN wires between the parking assistance module and the central electronic module (CEM)

    What you can do

    1. 1Read and clear the code, then test drive the car to see whether it comes back
    2. 2Consider whether the parking assistance module is a used control module that has been fitted to the car
    3. 3Check whether codes are stored in other control modules; if codes for the CAN wires are stored, start the fault tracing there
    4. 4Check that the connectors on the CAN wires between the parking assistance module and the central electronic module are firmly seated and free from oxidation
    5. 5Have a workshop load the parking assistance module with the correct and latest software
    6. 6If the code comes back after that, have a workshop check the wiring between the control modules
