Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C30 Electric (2011–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking assistance module (PAM) compares its battery voltage with the voltage the central electronic module (CEM) has. The code is stored when the CEM voltage is much higher than the parking assistance voltage, and then the parking assistance does not work. On cars up to and including model year 2010, a software fault in the parking assistance module can cause the code to be stored incorrectly.
Possible causes
- On cars up to and including model year 2010, a software fault in the parking assistance module can cause the code to be stored incorrectly
What you can do
- 1Read and clear the code, then test drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 2Check that the cables between the battery and the parking assistance module are intact, and that the connectors are clean and firmly seated
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the power lead between the battery and the parking assistance module has no break and no contact with ground
- 4On cars up to and including model year 2010: have a workshop download new software to the parking assistance module
- 5If the fault remains after reprogramming, have a workshop trace the power supply further
