What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) supplies the right brake caliper directly. The code concerns the motor in the brake caliper, and the fault code is stored when the signal is incorrect for a longer period. The causes are an open circuit in the signal cable or a damaged brake caliper.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged brake caliper
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car using the parking brake to see whether it returns
- 2With a multimeter, check that the signal cable is intact between the connector and the right brake caliper
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the values for the right brake caliper and see whether they change when the parking brake is applied and released
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the brake caliper and its wiring and replace them if needed
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
