What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) supplies the right brake caliper through an output and monitors the signal there. The fault code is stored when the signal is incorrect for a longer time, and The causes are a damaged fuse, poor contact or an open circuit in the connections, or a damaged control module.
Possible causes
- Damaged fuse
- Contact resistance, oxidation or open circuit in the connections
- Damaged Park Brake Module (PBM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car using the parking brake to see whether it returns
- 2If the fuse for the parking brake has blown, look for a short circuit in the circuit before fitting a new one
- 3Check the connections to the right brake caliper for looseness and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the right brake caliper is not broken
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the Park Brake Module (PBM) and replace it if needed
- 6The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
