Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) supplies the right brake caliper directly and checks the current consumption of the caliper. The fault code indicates that the current is out of range, and the cause is a mechanical fault in the right brake caliper.
Possible causes
- Mechanical fault in the right brake caliper
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car using the parking brake to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the right brake caliper several times and check whether the current consumption in live data is the same each time
- 3Look at the right brake caliper and its mechanical parts for dirt or damage
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the right brake caliper mechanically and replace it if needed
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
