Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) supplies the left brake caliper through an output and checks the voltage there. The fault code is stored when the voltage on the output is close to battery voltage while the output is not active, and the signal is incorrect for a longer time. The cause may be that the signal wire is shorted to voltage or that the caliper is damaged.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is shorted to voltage
- Damaged left brake caliper
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car using the parking brake to see whether it returns
- 2Use a multimeter to measure whether the wire to the left brake caliper carries battery voltage when the parking brake is not in use
- 3Look for damage to the insulation on the wiring to the left brake caliper
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the signal wire and the left brake caliper and replace them if needed
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
Symptoms you may notice3

- Message in the text display
