What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) continuously receives information from the engine control module (ECM) over the CAN bus. The fault code is stored when communication with the engine control module stops and incorrect signals remain for a while.

- Fault in the engine control module (ECM), which should send the information
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connectors at the parking brake control module are firmly fitted
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the engine control module (ECM) also has fault codes, since fault codes are sometimes set in several control modules
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop troubleshoot the engine control module (ECM) and the communication between the control modules
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
