What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) continuously receives information from the transmission control module (TCM) over the CAN bus. The fault code is stored when communication with the TCM stops, or when the information from the TCM has a lower quality than the parking brake module accepts.
Possible causes
- Fault in the transmission control module (TCM), which should send the information
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Look at the wiring and connectors to the parking brake control module for chafed spots and loose connectors
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the CEM or other control modules also have communication fault codes
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop troubleshoot the transmission control module (TCM) and the communication between the control modules
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
