What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) continuously receives information from the supplemental restraint system (SRS) over the CAN bus. The fault code is stored when communication with the SRS stops. The parking brake may then work poorly or not at all.
Possible causes
- Fault in the supplemental restraint system (SRS)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car using the parking brake to see whether it returns
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check whether the supplemental restraint system (SRS) also has fault codes
- 3The restraint system is a safety system: do not work on it yourself; have a workshop check it and put right any fault codes
- 4Check the connectors at the parking brake control module for looseness and oxidation
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
Symptoms you may notice2
- Text message with a warning symbol in the display
- Parking brake does not work, works with reduced function, or works incorrectly
