Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake module (PBM) receives information from the forward sensing module (FSM) over the CAN bus. The fault code is stored when the FSM requests that the parking brake be applied while the car is travelling faster than the parking brake module accepts for applying it. The fault therefore lies in another control module, namely the one sending the request.
Possible causes
- Fault in the forward sensing module (FSM)
What you can do
- 1Do not clear the fault code until the fault in the other control module has been put right
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: check which control modules have fault codes, since the fault lies in another control module than the parking brake
- 3If the fault returns, have a workshop troubleshoot the forward sensing module (FSM)
- 4The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
Symptoms you may notice1
- Adaptive cruise control does not work
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
