Possible causes
- Damaged parking brake switch
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose connection
- Break in the signal wires
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code, clear it and test drive the car by applying and releasing the parking brake
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the switch signal in live data while the parking brake is used
- 3Check the connectors to the switch for looseness and oxidation
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the parking brake switch if needed
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
