What does this fault code mean?
The electronic parking brake module (PBM) has a built-in inclination sensor used to decide how hard to apply the brake on a slope. The code means the inclination sensor has not been calibrated, the installation check has not been done, or the module is still in service mode.
Possible causes
- The inclination sensor has not been calibrated, for example after replacing the module
- The installation check has not been carried out after fitting
- Service mode is still active, for example after replacing the rear brake pads
What you can do
- 1Find out whether the rear brakes or the parking brake module have recently been serviced or replaced
- 2Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment exit service mode, calibrate the inclination sensor and run the installation check
- 3Afterwards, check that the parking brake applies and releases correctly
- 4Do not rely on the parking brake on a slope until the fault is fixed – leave the car in gear or in P
Symptoms you may notice3
- Parking brake warning lamp on
- Yellow warning symbol and message in the display
- The parking brake has reduced function
