What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake control module (PBM) compares the vehicle configuration sent by the central electronic module (CEM) with the one stored in itself. The fault code is stored when they do not match, or when the configuration from the CEM is incorrect. The configuration then needs to be read in again, which a workshop does.
Possible causes
- Incorrect vehicle configuration, for example a used control module intended for another car or with different software or hardware
- The vehicle configuration has been changed in a way that affects the parking brake control module
- The vehicle configuration was not read in correctly during a software download
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which sends the configuration
What you can do
- 1Read the fault code and clear it; other fault codes set during the re-reading may be cleared without action
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM)
- 3If the car has recently received a used control module, new software or a changed configuration, have a workshop read in the correct vehicle configuration
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop troubleshoot the central electronic module (CEM)
- 5The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
