Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The parking brake control module (PBM) checks its own system voltage when a function is activated. The fault code is stored when the voltage has an incorrect value for a longer time. The cause is that the supply voltage to the control module is too low.
Possible causes
- Supply voltage to the control module too low
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery voltage is correct; a weak or discharged battery can give too low a supply voltage
- 2Check that the fuse for the parking brake is intact
- 3Check that the battery terminals and earth connections are firmly fitted and not corroded
- 4After checking the battery: apply the parking brake, then clear the fault code, in that order, and check whether it returns
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the supply to the parking brake control module (PBM)
- 6The parking brake is a safety function: have a workshop check it if it does not work as it should
Symptoms you may notice4
- The parking brake lamp flashes when the function is activated
- Information lamp is on
- Message in the text display
- Electric parking brake does not work
