Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2001–2009), S80 (1999–2006), V70 (2000–2008), V70 XC / XC70 (2001–2007), XC90 (2003–)
What does this fault code mean?
The PDM control module has registered that the signal from the outside temperature sensor is too low. The sensor is in the right door mirror, whether the car is left- or right-hand drive. The cause can be an open circuit in the signal wire or the wire being short-circuited to ground, and the outside temperature reading does not work while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1With the ignition on, check whether the outside temperature is shown and whether the value seems plausible
- 2With the ignition off, check the connector at the mirror and at the control module. Look for oxidation, poor contact and damage
- 3Remedy the connector if it is corroded or has poor contact, and look especially for damage to the cable
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has neither an open circuit nor a short to ground. If a fault is found, replace the wire
- 5If no fault is found in the wiring, replace the outside temperature sensor and check that the reading appears afterwards
Symptoms you may notice1
- Outside temperature display does not work
