PDM-B10EC11 - Passenger door double locking motor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The passenger door module (PDM) supplies the lock motor for the deadlock position, and the signal from the output has become too low. The code is always set together with a fault code for the power supply to the mirror fold-in, because the two share a cable inside the control module.
Possible causes
- Power supply cable short-circuited to ground
- Moisture and/or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2Look for damage and moisture in the wiring to the passenger door and check that the connections are dry and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the lock motor is not short-circuited to ground (the body)
- 4If a fault is found, remedy the connector or replace the damaged wire
- 5After the work, check that the central locking and the mirrors work and that the fault code does not return
Symptoms you may notice4
- Does not go into the deadlock position
- Central locking does not work when locking and unlocking
- Electric adjustment of the door mirrors does not work
- Folding of the door mirrors does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Folding and electric adjustment of the door mirrors are blocked to prevent the car being locked unintentionally
