What does this fault code mean?

The passenger door module (PDM) supplies the central locking motor, the lock motor for the deadlock position and the electrically folding door mirror in the driver's door. The control module has registered that the signal from the output is too high when the lock motor for the deadlock position is activated. The fault may be caused by the supply cable being short-circuited to supply voltage or having an open circuit, and then the deadlock position cannot be activated.

    Possible causes

    • Power supply cable short-circuited to supply voltage
    • Open circuit in the power supply cable
    • Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
    • Open circuit in the cable between the control module and the central locking motor
    • Cable between the control module and the central locking motor short-circuited to supply voltage
    • Open circuit or short to supply voltage on the cable to the common lock motor

    What you can do

    1. 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
    2. 2With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the passenger door, and remedy any lock motor or mirror codes first
    3. 3Try the central locking and the mirrors to see which functions do not work
    4. 4Look for damage, moisture and oxidation in the connectors and in the wiring to the central locking motor in the passenger door
    5. 5Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the central locking motor has no open circuit and no contact with supply voltage or ground. If a fault is found, remedy it
    6. 6After the work, check that the central locking works and that the fault code does not return

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • Does not go into the deadlock position
    • Central locking does not work when locking and unlocking
    • Electric adjustment of the door mirrors does not work
    • Folding of the door mirrors does not work

    What the fault can affect1

    • While the fault is active, folding and electric adjustment of the door mirrors are blocked to prevent the car being locked unintentionally

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
