PDM-B110915 - Passenger door central locking motor. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery or open
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
9 modelsS60 (2011–), S80 (2007–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–), V70 (2008–), XC60 (2009–), XC70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The passenger door module (PDM) supplies the central locking motor in the passenger door and, when activated, also the lock motor for the deadlock position and the electric door mirror in the driver's door. The control module has flagged a signal from the output that is too high as the central locking is switched on. The fault may be caused by the supply cable being short-circuited to supply voltage or having an open circuit, and then the door cannot be locked or unlocked.
Possible causes
- Power supply cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the power supply cable
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- Open circuit on the wire running from the module to the central locking motor
- Wire from the module to the central locking motor short-circuited to supply voltage
- Wire from the module to the central locking motor short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2Try the central locking and the mirrors to see which functions do not work
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, check whether there are fault codes for the power supply to the common lock motor. If there are, remedy them first
- 4Look for damage, moisture and oxidation in the connectors and the wiring to the central locking motor in the passenger door
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the central locking motor has no open circuit and no contact with supply voltage or ground. If a fault is found, remedy it
- 6After the work, check that the central locking works and that the fault code does not return
Symptoms you may notice4
- Does not lock or unlock one door
- Locking and unlocking with the central locking does not work
- Electric adjustment of the door mirrors does not work
- Folding of the door mirrors does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Folding and electric adjustment of the door mirrors are blocked while the fault is active, to prevent the car being locked unintentionally
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
