What does this fault code mean?
The rear door windows each have a Hall sensor that measures how fast the window motor turns, and that is how the window position is determined. The module has flagged an incorrect signal from the sensor, and the functions for that rear door window then cannot be activated.
Possible causes
- Damaged Hall sensor
- Signal cable to the sensor short-circuited to supply voltage
- Signal cable to the sensor short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal cable to the sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2Try the rear door window from its switch and see whether it can be operated
- 3With a diagnostic tool, watch the Hall sensor signal for the rear window in live data as the window moves up and down; it should change smoothly
- 4Look for damage and loose connections in the wiring to the Hall sensor in the rear door
- 5If the wiring is intact, the sensor itself may be faulty and a workshop should replace it
Symptoms you may notice1
- Automatic closing of the rear windows does not work
