VOLVO
PDM-B11BD15 - Mirror Fold Relay. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery or open
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver door module (DDM) powers the motor of the electrically folding mirror on the driver side. The control module has registered that the current is too low when the mirror is folded in or out, or drawing too much current while no lock command is being issued. The fault may also come from faults that are first handled by other fault codes, and the code is always set together with a code for the deadlock position.
Possible causes
- Voltage feed cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Break in the power supply cable
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- Power supply to the mirror fold-in short-circuited to ground
- Power supply to the common lock motor short-circuited to supply voltage or open
- Power supply to the mirror fold-out short-circuited to supply voltage or open
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the driver door; if there are codes for folding, unfolding or the common lock motor, remedy them first
- 3Try folding and unfolding the mirror from its switch to see what does not work
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the mirror motor has neither an open circuit nor contact with supply voltage
- 5Check the connectors at the mirror and in the driver door for oxidation and poor contact
Symptoms you may notice3
- Locking, unlocking and central locking do not work
- Mirror electric adjustment does not work
- Mirror folding does not work
What the fault can affect1
- Mirror folding and electric adjustment are blocked so that the car is not locked by accident
