VOLVO
PDM-B12B611 - Front Lock Motor Common Circuit. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The passenger door module (PDM) powers the central locking motors through a shared output and has detected excessive current on it, pointing to a short circuit to ground. The same internal circuit is used for folding the door mirror, so the module blocks that too to avoid the car being locked by mistake.
Possible causes
- Short circuit to ground in the supply to the lock motors
- Moisture or corrosion in connectors, often in the door or the grommet between door and body
What you can do
- 1Check the fuses for the door module and the central locking
- 2Check the rubber grommet between door and body for broken or pinched wires
- 3Look for moisture inside the door, for example from a damaged moisture barrier behind the door trim
- 4If the fault remains, have the lock motor and wiring checked by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice2
- Central locking does not work
- Electric mirror adjustment and folding do not work
What the fault can affect1
- Mirror folding and electric adjustment are blocked
