VOLVO
PDM-B12B615 - Front Lock Motor Common Circuit. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to battery or open
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The door module on the driver or passenger side feeds the central lock motor and the deadlock motor through a shared output. The control module has registered that one of the motors draws no current at all, or too high a current, when the central locking or the deadlock position is activated. Folding and electric adjustment of the mirrors may then be blocked as well.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or poor contact in the connections
- Break in the wire running from the module to the central locking motor or the deadlock motor
- The shared wire from the module to both motors is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Wire from the module to the central locking motor short-circuited to supply voltage or ground
- Open circuit or short to supply voltage on the cable to the deadlock motor
- Power supply cable short-circuited to supply voltage, or with an open circuit
What you can do
- 1Check that the relevant fuses are intact
- 2With a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the door module; if there are codes for the central locking or deadlock motor, remedy them first
- 3Try the central locking and the deadlock position to see which functions do not work
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the central locking motor and the deadlock motor have no break and no contact with supply voltage or ground
- 5Look for moisture, oxidation and loose contacts in the connections to the motors and remedy them
Symptoms you may notice3
- Locking, unlocking and central locking do not work
- Mirror electric adjustment does not work
- Mirror folding does not work
What the fault can affect2
- While the fault is active, folding and electric adjustment of the mirrors are blocked to prevent the car being locked by accident
- All outputs that supply power to the lock motors are activated
