PDM-B12BC11
VOLVO
PDM-B12BC11 - Mirror Position Sensor Supply. General Electrical Failures. Circuit short to ground
System
Passenger Door Module (PDM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
5 modelsS60 (2011–), V40 (2013–), V40 Cross Country (2013–), V60 (2011–), V60 Cross Country (2015–)
What does this fault code mean?
The driver's and passenger door module (DDM/PDM) supplies voltage to the position sensors in the mirrors, so the module can tell where each mirror is set. The module has registered a reading below the expected level on the signal line, which points to the supply being shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Short to ground in the supply cable to the mirror position sensors
- Moisture and/or oxidation in the connections
What you can do
- 1Read the code, clear it and adjust the mirrors electrically to see whether the code comes back
- 2Check the fuses for the door modules and mirrors in the fuse box; if a fuse has blown, look for a short to ground before a new fuse is fitted
- 3Check the connectors at the mirrors and the door module for moisture, oxidation and loose contact
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the mirrors has no contact with ground (the body)
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment, read the mirror position values in live data while you adjust the mirrors and check that they follow the movement
- 6If the wiring is intact but the code comes back: have a workshop check the door module
Symptoms you may notice1
- Electrical adjustment of the mirrors does not work
What the fault can affect1
- The module stops supplying voltage to the mirror position sensors
